LOGISTICS
The Logistic Department’s on-call personnel are responsible for the planning, coordinating, and directing of all truck loads, thereby working around the clock to ensure that the production line is always running efficiently and swiftly. The use of tracking equipment makes it possible to establish the exact location of our vehicles and our clients to determine the shortest route from pick-up to delivery.
REPORTING
Customised reporting structures can be tailor made for each client or project, based on all the information relating to the loads. Each client’s needs will be different when it comes to daily/weekly/monthly feedback, be it tonnage reports, load number reports, ETA reports ext. Due to River North running an in-house operational software system, a customisable approach can be taken when dealing with all forms of feedback required.
24/7 control

24/7 Control
Room
The 24-hour control room utilises a vast array of technologies to monitor driver, fleet, and load safety. The scope of the control room is to ensure the fleet abides by traffic laws. Focus is also placed on fatigue management, by utilising regular stoppages and monitoring the fatigue units that are installed on all trucks. The control room also works closely with the logistics team, to ensure that all trucks stay on prescribed routes and avoid any unauthorised or unsafe stoppage.
our
drivers
Our
Drivers
Drivers are trained and assessed by accredited driver trainers on-site at River North Carrier’s Head Office. Regular medical examinations are performed to ensure that all drivers are medical fit. All drivers frequently attend driver development workshops and refresher courses to improve their driving skills. The use of Route Management Services (RMS) – Libra Assist ensures efficient and responsible driving, as well as Guardian Fatigue Monitors that evaluate any fatigues/distraction/micro sleep.
maintenance
An on-site Scania workshop is available where regular maintenance is performed on all components. A second fully equipped workshop and boiler shop is situated on-site where semi-skilled and qualified technicians ensure that vehicles and trailers are kept in a good condition. We pride ourselves on clean trucks that are in a good condition. Vehicles are frequently washed and fumigated to ensure sanitary conditions. Roadside assistance vehicles and on-call technicians help to prevent prolonged downtime on our trucks in the event of a breakdown.
documentation
A fleet of support vehicles are running 24/7, planning and collecting original load documentation from the fleet. This ensures a very short turn-around time from load completion, invoicing, and document processing.
An individualised approach can also be taken with specific routes, where original documents are crucial for processing purposes.
Load
diversification
Load
Diversification
Our focus has always been bulk haulage, but in the past few years, River North Carriers have diversified the available load capabilities. This includes, but is not limited to hauling abnormal loads, which includes farm and industrial equipment. Additionally, we have also acquired livestock trailers, purpose built for either hauling cattle or sheep, with dedicated drivers with years of experience in the hauling of livestock.
project
management
Project Management
In addition to bulk haulage, River North Carriers also focus on specific projects, where additional resources are utilised in conjunction with haulage. This includes placing staff at load or off-load points, loading infrastructure, e.g., loaders ext.
We strive to be able to supply a one stop service for our clients.
